As if the FBI needed more bad publicity after its rampant politicization during President Obama’s administration in regard to tanking Hillary Clinton’s email investigation and misleading the FISA court to get surveillance warrants on members of the Trump campaign, now comes news that the bureau is in bed with one of the most biased Left-wing hate groups in America.
As The Daily Caller noted, Fox News’ Tucker Carlson reported on ties between the FBI and the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) during his Friday program.
Citing Carlson, The DC noted:
The FBI has an “ongoing” relationship with the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a left-wing nonprofit that once placed Housing and Urban Development Secretary Dr. Ben Carson on an “extremist watch list.”
Calling the SPLC a “fraudulent enterprise” that has nothing to do with the South or poverty, Carlson explained that the organization is most notable for its “hate crime” designations as a political weapon to silence opposition.
“The SPLC has repeatedly been allowed to brief the FBI on alleged domestic terrorist threats to this country,” said Carlson. “Disturbingly though, the relationship is ongoing, if you can believe it.”
The Fox News host went onto note that his program has repeatedly asked the FBI to explain its relationship with the SLPC and the “extent of its collaboration,” but that the bureau has issued nothing but boilerplate, non-descriptive responses.
In the latest, spokeswoman Jacqueline Maguire said that the FBI’s “outreach is a critical component” of the bureau’s ongoing effort to combat anti-terrorism as well as civil rights and hate crime violations, as well as other “potential crimes or threats.”
The SPLC has a history of inaccuracies in determining “hate groups” for its annual list, which is used almost exclusively by Left-wing media as an “authoritative” source.
Recently, as The Daily Caller reported in a separate story, the SPLC was forced to pay out millions in damages for falsely claiming one organization was a “Muslim extremist” group:
The controversial Southern Poverty Law Center has reached a settlement to anti-extremist organization Quilliam resulting in an apology and a $3.375-million payment for wrongly naming the group and its founder as anti-Muslim extremists.
The SPLC originally placed the organization and president Maajid Nawaz in a list directed for journalists named the Field Guide for Anti-Muslim Extremists.
“A list of KKK, Neo-Nazi, and other violent groups could be a non-partisan service to the public. But that isn’t what the cash-infused Southern Poverty Law Center provides,” said Casey Mattox, head of the Center for Academic Freedom, who claimed that because his organization was misidentified he was nearly killed, The National Sentinel reported. (Related: SPLC caught faking numbers of “Muslim hate groups” in U.S. to fundraise off Trump hate.)
“Instead, the Southern Poverty Law Center expressly acknowledges that its list is biased, focused on taking out groups it describes as the ‘American radical right’ – which it defines broadly, smearing all its opponents equally,” he added.
Carlson reported that Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores said in a statement that “Attorney General Jeff Sessions has directed the FBI to reevaluate” its relationships with groups like the SPLC to make sure that it “does not partner with any group that discriminates.”
In 2012, Floyd Lee Corkins opened fire at the Family Research Center’s headquarters because the SPLC listed them as a “hate group” – over their stance against gay marriage, abortion, and other policies that harm families.
Carlson noted that the SPLC even placed him on an “extremist watch list” over his conservative views in 2015.
None of that matters to social media giants Google, Facebook, and Twitter, as well as mega-online retailer Amazon.
They all use the SPLC– a bona fide hate group– to help them spot…hate groups.
The Left’s war against conservatives and especially Trump supporters will only get more intense with each GOP and Trump success. The FBI should not be legitimizing SPLC bias and hate.
