The perpetrators behind the recent attack at a concert hall outside Moscow, which resulted in more than 145 people losing their lives and more than 500 being injured, had pro-Ukraine imagery on their cellphones, according to a new investigation.
The four Tajik nationals who opened fire inside the packed Crocus City Hall music venue on March 22 before setting the building on fire tried to flee to Ukraine by car following the attack when they were intercepted and arrested by law enforcement.
The jihadist group Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISIS-K), of which the four attackers are members, claimed responsibility for the attack. However, Aleksandr Bortnikov, the head of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), believes the United States, the United Kingdom and Ukraine are behind the attack.
Bortnikov stated that he believes the U.S. and other Western powers used the Islamists as proxies to avoid being blamed for the attack. Ukraine and the other Western nations continue to deny any and all responsibility.
Russia’s Investigative Committee (IC) took a closer look at the four culprits’ cellphones, which contained various pro-Ukraine images including photos of Ukrainian soldiers. At least one of the phones contained a picture of a man wrapped in a Ukrainian flag standing in front of the destroyed concert hall.
Another disturbing image showed a soldier standing atop a tank holding a Ukrainian flag along with the caption:
“The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
“This data may suggest a connection between the terrorist attack and the [Ukraine] special military operation,” said IC spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko.
“Ukrainian security services and international Islamist terrorist groups” were also involved in planning and executing the concert hall attack, Petrenko added.

Petrenko would go on to reveal in a statement that on the morning of Feb. 24, 2024, almost a full month prior to the Moscow attack, one of the four suspects sent “his handler” photos of the entrances to the Crocus City Hall, along with photos of nearby roadways.
Interestingly, the February 24 date on which this occurred was exactly two years from the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, which commenced on Feb. 24, 2022.
In earlier statements, the IC noted that it had uncovered evidence of the suspects receiving money and cryptocurrency from Ukraine, which further points to the Zelensky regime and other Western powers being responsible for the attack.
“Isn’t it so strange how there were no Islamic terrorist attacks when the Soviet Union collapsed?” one commenter wrote. “Why? Because America got what it wanted! The control, manipulation and oppression of Russians!”
“Now that Russia has improved significantly and substantially over the last 30 years, all of a sudden there are terrorist attacks. Of course it’s Ukraine, the U.S. and the CIA. It’s got their modus operandi all over it!”
Another asked why Kiev is refusing to take responsibility for the attack, seeing as how it is their style to “kill civilians.”
“What is their administration afraid of, which constantly commits violence against civilians? That they will receive justice? It’s inevitable. The facts speak for themselves. Yet they usually rejoiced whenever a similar attack on Russia was successful.”
“Suddenly they are afraid that someone will kidnap them and they will be put on trial? On the other hand, such a campaign against the guilty may have a psychological purpose. Eventually they will make a mistake and be exposed, or their allies will sell them for a bowl of lentils or a handful of silver. It all depends on politics and business profitability. They were supported by sponsors until the counter-offensive, but not after that. And that’s it.”
