Because it is looking less and less likely that the Justice Department is ever going to redeem itself and hold accountable the deep state criminals who protected Hillary Clinton from prosecution by targeting the 2016 Trump campaign, House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Devin Nunes is taking matters in his own hands.
On Wednesday, the California Republican joined Fox News host Sean Hannity and fellow guest and investigative reporter Sara A. Carter to discuss a federal multimillion-dollar racketeering lawsuit he has filed against Fusion GPS, the political opposition research firm that commissioned the bogus “Russia dossier.”
“I was often smeared,” Nunes told Hannity during the interview. “And now, what we know is, there’s a link between those who were doing the smearing and Fusion GPS.”
“Most people know about the Steele Dossier and working to smear the [2016] Trump campaign,” he said. “When we were investigating Fusion GPS, they were actively involved in working to smear me to obstruct justice, to derail our investigation — and so, I’m gonna hold these guys accountable, and this is just one of many steps we’re gonna continue to take.”
The National Sentinel added:
Fusion has a long history of involvement with the Trump-Russia collusion narrative, which Mueller did determine, officially, was invalid. In June 2016 at the so-called “Trump Tower” meeting, which Democrats have often attempted to use as proof the president and Russian operatives were plotting against Hillary Clinton, three of the eight people who attended were associated with Fusion.
In the interview, both Hannity and Nunes acknowledged that even though special counsel Robert Mueller spent an eye-watering $40 million to investigate criminal “collusion” between the Trump campaign and Russia — only to find that it never happened — he appeared to know nothing at all about Fusion GPS, despite its prominent role in “Sypgate” during congressional testimony earlier this year.
That fed into a belief among many in Washington that Mueller was just a figurehead and had little-to-nothing at all to do with the everyday investigation.
But that’s why Nunes felt compelled to bring his $9.9 million lawsuit: Because it couldn’t see the guilty being held accountable any other way. (Related: Once again, another Deep State slimebag — James Comey — gets away with a crime as “little people” around the country scream for justice.)
“That’s why we have to go to the courts,” Nunes said, because after spending so much money investigating the president, “we don’t have anything to show for it.”
“This is why people like me, who have the ability to do this, have to take these cases to court, so we can pull out more information. Because ultimately, people have to be held accountable,” the California Republican added.
Carter reports that Nunes’ complaint names Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson and the nonprofit Campaign for Accountability (CfA). He noted that the firm’s “smear” tactics began after Simpson “lied” during testimony before the House Intelligence Committee in November 2017, as well as before the Senate Judiciary Committee in August 2017.
“The bank records produced by Fusion GPS revealed that the Clinton campaign, the DNC and Perkins Coie paid for Fusion GPS’ anti-Trump research,” Nunes’ complaint stated.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton has said evidence his government watchdog group, Judicial Watch, has uncovered shows that Spygate was devised to hide the Hillary Clinton’s criminal mishandling of classified emails, for which she was given a pass by then-FBI Director James Comey and Obama’s Justice Department, led by Attorney General Loretta Lynch.
“If you want to know why Hillary Clinton skated, thus far, it’s because Barack Obama and his White House are implicated in this scandal,” Fitton said in May, called the Obama administration a “repository” for her emails.
He also said that according to documents his group unearthed, Obama not only helped cover up Clinton’s misdeeds, but that he helped orchestrate the cover-up.
