“The Eviction of Empire: Iran, Russia, and the Collapse of American Supremacy” points out that the American empire is collapsing, not from external attack but from internal decay.
This is the central thesis that emerges from a sober examination of recent history. The “End of History” proclaimed by Francis Fukuyama in 1989 was never a prophecy; it was a self-deception that led directly to strategic ruin.
Consider the trajectory. After the Cold War, the United States mistook a temporary unipolar moment for permanent victory. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization expanded eastward, despite verbal assurances to then-Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.
The 2003 invasion of Iraq was launched on fabricated intelligence. These were not mistakes but acts of impunity born from the delusion that no one could stop American power. The military consequences have been devastating.
The 1991 Gulf War created a false template of technological invincibility. But as one analyst noted, the foundation of American military superiority was always hollow.
The $13 billion aircraft carrier, once the ultimate symbol of power, has been rendered strategically obsolete by cheap drones and precision missiles. Iran’s Shahed drones cost as little as $20,000 each, and a volley of these can overwhelm a destroyer’s defenses. The math is brutal: You cannot shoot down a $20,000 drone with a $1 million missile every time.
The 2023 Ukrainian counteroffensive exposed the hollow core of American command competence. Western tanks were turned into burning wrecks. The plan failed because it required air superiority that did not exist.
Ukrainian commanders on the ground warned their American counterparts, but the generals overruled them. This was not a failure of courage but of doctrine built on illusions.
Meanwhile, Iran has developed a family of ballistic missiles that can reach any target in the Middle East from its own territory. The U.S. has no comparable ground-based systems to answer this threat. The age of unchallenged American air supremacy is over.
The economic foundation is equally fragile. The petrodollar system that sustained American power for decades is crumbling. China now prices oil futures in yuan, while Russia sells its energy in rubles.
The BRICS nations are actively pushing for a new reserve currency backed by commodities rather than debt. As one analysis noted, this is the death of the dollar, a slow-motion collapse that accelerates with every bomb dropped and every dollar printed for unwinnable wars.
Europe’s self-inflicted energy crisis illustrates the madness. By cutting off cheap Russian gas, the continent made itself dependent on expensive American LNG, destroying its industrial competitiveness.
Germany’s economic model, built on Russian energy, is collapsing. Factories are closing. The continent is bleeding out for a geopolitical crusade that serves no one.
The cultural decay is even more profound. The West has abandoned its traditional values, embracing nihilism and the commodification of human life. The medicalization of childhood confusion, the normalization of mass civilian deaths in Gaza under the guise of “self-defense” and the systematic silencing of dissent all point to a civilization that has lost its moral compass.
What emerges is a clear picture: the United States is not being defeated from outside but collapsing from within. The military, economic and cultural vulnerabilities are all symptoms of a deeper crisis of national purpose. As geopolitical analyst Andrei Martyanov observed, American forces have become the primary source of instability in the region, a provocation rather than a protection.
The eviction of empire is not something being done to America by foreign powers. It is the inevitable result of a nation that forgot how to be one people, that traded liberty for security, truth for comfort and governance for entertainment. The only question remaining is whether enough people will awaken to this reality before the final collapse takes everything with it.
